Topping-out ceremony for Academic 3

A topping-out ceremony for Academic 3 (AC3) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) marked a significant milestone in the development of the University campus.

Guests officiating at the ceremony on 7 March were Professor Way Kuo, CityU President; Mr Chan Ka-kui, Council Member; Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost; Mr Edmund Leung Kwong-ho, Managing Director of Hsin Chong Construction Group; Mr Joseph Choi Kin-hung, Assistant Managing Director of Hsin Chong Construction Co., Ltd.; and Mr Andy Leung Kit-man, Managing Director of Ronald Lu & Partners. 

 AC3 was built for the students, Professor Kuo said. “The new buildings completed recently are an integrated part of the University. The completion of AC3 will help us facilitate our new 4-year curriculum. CityU and our colleagues are very excited about this happy moment. With so many good partners to work with, we are able to make this project a very important part of the University.The completion of AC3 would open a new chapter for the University,” he said.

Mr Edmund Leung said, “Hsin Chong will complete the AC3 project with an honest, pragmatic and professional attitude. We will contribute our best in creating this world-class teaching facility with the encouragement and co-operation of each of our partners. We are looking forward to the completion of AC3 project. ”

After completion, the 20-storey AC3 will be the tallest academic building on campus, providing an additional 20,500 square metres of space. It will include facilities such as classrooms, lecture theatres with one holding up to 600 people, teaching and research laboratories, multi-function rooms, a canteen, common areas, administrative offices and a roof garden.

The completion of AC3 will help CityU excel in its professional education and applied research.
