A ceremony to launch the "Social Enterprise Endorsement System" was held at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 24 March, officiated by Ms Florence Hui Hiu-fai, Under Secretary of Home Affairs, HKSAR Government. The system aims to promote the sustainable development of social enterprises and enhance public trust.

Last year, CityU's Project Flame was entrusted by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises to develop the System. The study is sponsored by the Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation.

The Social Enterprise Endorsement System includes various categories to meet the needs and expectations of social enterprises of various sizes, and to win public recognition of their values, products and services. The first draft of the initial stage of the System has been completed.

CityU launched the campus-wide Project Flame in 2012 to promote the concept of social innovation and social entrepreneurship.
