Three students from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have each won scholarships worth $150,000 in the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme.

They are Chan Hui-ling (top photo, first from left), a Year 2 student in the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, and Lee Hei-yan (top photo, second from left) and Harry Lam Zhi-kiet (top photo, first from right), Year 2 students in the School of Energy and Environment (SEE).

The three winners, who were nominated by CityU’s President, Professor Way Kuo, were chosen after a rigorous selection process that involved an interview with the Awardee Selection Committee on their views about innovation and technology, how they would promote engineering as a career, and their passion towards engineering innovation.

The scholarships can be used to participate in various initiatives, including the Overseas or Mainland Attachment Programme, Local Internship Programme, Mentorship Programme and Social Service Programme.

Professor Arthur Ellis (top photo, middle), Provost, and Professor Johnny Chan Chung-leung (top photo, second from right), Dean of SEE, attended the award presentation ceremony to show their support to the three students.

The Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme, organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, recognises outstanding undergraduates in science-related streams at local universities who have the potential to support technological development in Hong Kong.
