The progress that City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has made over the past 30 years and our state-of-the-art facilities left a deep impression on Mr Kennedy Liu Tat-yin, a newly appointed member of the University Council, after a familiarisation visit on 9 June.

“I wasn’t aware that CityU had advanced so much in world and Asian university rankings in recent years,” said Mr Liu, Partner and Head of Capital Market Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers. “I was also impressed by the well-equipped and advanced teaching and learning facilities.”

Professor Way Kuo, University President, and members of the senior management team warmly welcomed Mr Liu and briefed him on CityU’s development.

During his visit, Mr Liu learned about millimeter-wave and terahertz technologies during a tour of the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves. He also visited the state-of-the art facilities at the School of Creative Media and experienced the “Pure Land: Inside the Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang” exhibition.

In addition, he toured the studios in the Department of Media and Communication, such as the 3D-TV Virtual Studio, and the Digital Newsroom, among others. He also walked around one of the student hostels, learning about hall life.
