CityU court members, staff, alumni named in Honours List

Nine members of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) have been recognised in this year’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Honours List or appointed as a Justice of the Peace.

Current external member of the Court and alumnus The Honourable Mr Christopher Cheung Wah-fung has been awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) for his dedicated and distinguished public and community service, particularly his valuable contributions to the financial services industry in Hong Kong.
 
Also awarded the SBS is Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Chief-of-Staff and Chair Professor of Biology. The award is in recognition of his long and distinguished public and community service, particularly in his capacity as Chairman of the Advisory Council on the Environment. He has made remarkable contributions on environmental protection and nature conservation matters, as well as in the areas of tertiary and higher education in the past decade.
 
Mr Albert Wong Kwai-huen
and Mr Chan Yung, current external members of the Court, have been awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS). Mr Wong is known for his meritorious service to the public and legal community, particularly his significant contributions in
enhancing the regulatory environment for solicitor practice and promoting the legal and dispute resolution services of Hong Kong. Mr Chan, who is also an alumnus of CityU, is awarded the BBS for his meritorious public and community service, particularly in North District.

CityU alumnus Mr Tonny Chung Wing-kwong who has served the Fire Services Department for over 30 years is awarded the Hong Kong Fire Services Medal for Meritorious Service for his exemplary and devoted service.
 
Alumni Mr Lau Kwok-fan and Mr Lam Cheung-chi are awarded the Medal of Honour (MH). The awards are in recognition of their outstanding and dedicated community service in North District and contribution to the promotion of youth development, respectively. Vice-President (Student Affairs) and Chair Professor of Computer Science Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing is also awarded the MH for his valuable contribution to the promotion of quality education in Hong Kong.
 
In addition, alumnus Mr Cheung Kwok-kwan has been appointed as a Justice of the Peace.
