Opening of Innovation Commons

An opening ceremony on 14 January brought together interdepartmental expertise to establish Innovation Commons at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) with an aim to commercialising students’ innovative ideas.
Innovation Commons has been jointly set up by the Office of the Provost, the Office of Education Development and Gateway Education (EDGE), the Library, School of Law, and Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO).
By integrating interdepartmental and interdisciplinary expertise, the Innovation Commons serves as an exchange platform for students, offering information and consultation services about entrepreneurship and innovation, and about competitions for business plans and government-funded venture programmes.
Innovation Commons helps students form cross-disciplinary teams prepare for such competitions in which they put what they have learnt into practice.
Guests joining the opening ceremony included Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost, Professor Lu Jian, Vice-President (Research and Technology), Mr Sunny Lee Wai-kwong, Vice-President (Administration), Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, Chief-of-Staff, Professor Cheng Shuk Han, Director of EDGE, Mr David Ai Chuan, Director of KTO, and Professor Steve Ching Hsiang-hoo, University Librarian.
