A lion dance, traditional Chinese music, African drums and K-pop were just some of the attractions for the 2016 Joint Hall Gala Dinner which was held at the Student Residence of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 26 February and attended by a record number of over 700 students from different countries. The theme of this year’s dinner was “Memories We Lived”.

On the menu for the 60 or so banquet tables was fine Chinese cuisine, and on the programme were a lion dance, lucky draws, games, performances by the CityU Chinese Orchestra, the Djijor African Drum and Dance group, and K-pop-style dancers. Guests and students also had the chance to revisit milestones in the development of CityU’s halls of residence.

The event was organised by the Residents’ Associations and the Student Residence Office.

In attendance at the dinner were Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Student Affairs); Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development and External Relations); Dr Wong Chi-tim, Director of Student Development Services; Mr Wilson Lam Kin, Director of Student Residence Office; and Residence Masters.
