Lecture Theatre 15 in Academic 1 at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been named “CMA Lecture Theatre” in appreciation of the support and generous donations to the University made by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA).

A naming ceremony on 4 October was officiated by CMA representatives including  Dr Eddy Li Sau-hung, CMA President; Dr Jose Yu Sun-say, Permanent Honorary President; together with Professor Way Kuo, CityU President; and Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development and External Relations).

Professor Kuo thanked CMA on behalf of CityU for its donations in support of exchange scholarships and non-local internship awards for undergraduate students.

CMA’s generosity would enable students to develop a global perspective and learn different workplace culture and business practices, he said. In addition, Professor Kuo hosted a special lunch to express CityU’s heartfelt gratitude.

Dr Li said it was very meaningful and a life-long honour for the Lecture Theatre to be named after CMA. “It seems that there is no direct relationship between entrepreneurs and education. However, we will get old and need successors to further develop our business. Though the immediate benefits might not be seen yet, the support to the University will contribute a lot to the business sector and the community in future,” he said.

Lecture Theatre 15, one of the 33 lecture theatres at CityU equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia facilities, has a seating capacity of 120 and is an ideal venue for teaching, seminars, international conferences and major academic events.
