The Covered Terrace on the fourth floor of the Amenities Building at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been named “Wong’s International Terrace” in appreciation of the generous support of Wong’s International Holdings Limited.

The donation from Wong’s International Holdings Limited will be used to support outstanding students with financial needs to participate in non-local exchange programmes.

Officiating at the ceremony on 2 December were Mr Ben Wong Chung-mat, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wong’s International Holdings Limited; Mrs Abra Everitt, member of Wong’s family; Ms Ada Wong, Executive Director of Wong’s International Holdings Limited; Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, CityU Council Chairman; Professor Way Kuo, CityU President; and Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development & External Relations).

On behalf of the University, Mr Hu and Professor Kuo expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Wong’s contributions to sponsorship for nurturing students with world vision and global experience.

Mr Wong said the Wong’s Group was pleased to have the chance to render support to this energetic and uprising university. He added that in the world of dynamic changes, international exposure and multi-perspective thinking are invaluable, enabling students to tackle the challenges ahead.

Founded by Mr Wong Wha-san in the early 1960s, the Wong’s Group has developed from a grocery store into a listed company manufacturing different types of products, ranging from computers and peripherals, and mobile communication products to medical equipment. The Group has actively participated in various community projects in respect to medical, education, elderly and social welfare services.

With an area of 540 square metres, Wong’s International Terrace is an ideal venue for exhibitions, performances, forums and major student activities.
