Utilise imperfections of SiC

A renowned science scholar Professor Evelyn L. Hu delivered the latest installment of the City University of Hong Kong Distinguished Lecture Series on 16 March. The lecture was titled “Where Imperfections Lead to Opportunity: Photonic Defect-Based Devices in SiC”.

In the lecture, Professor Hu explained that defects in crystalline semiconductors such as diamond and SiC manifested optical emission. Such defects provide new opportunities for compact photonic sources and quantum information applications.

Professor Hu is the Tarr-Coyne Professor of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering at the John A Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. She is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Academia Sinica of Taiwan.
