Professor Xue Qi-Kun, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered the latest installment in the City University Distinguished Lecture Series on 25 September titled “Physics beyond Ohm’s Law”.

Professor Xue argued that the realisation of superconductivity and the quantum anomalous Hall effect at temperatures above the boiling temperature for liquid nitrogen, and particularly at around room temperature, may trigger the next industrial revolution.

Professor Xue works at the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University. He was elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005 and became the Vice-President at Tsinghua University in 2013.
