Event: Media briefing on CityU’s ground-breaking technology for electricity generation from waste heat recovery

Date: 9 February 2018 (Friday)
Time: 2:00 pm
Venue: Y5402, 5/F, Yellow Zone, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, CityU (near Lift 4)

A research project by the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) at City University of Hong Kong has been granted more than HK$20 million for the conversion of thermal energy into electricity at low temperatures by recovering waste heat from air-conditioning systems. This breakthrough technology can save more than 50% of the electricity consumed by air-conditioners.

In addition, SEE has developed eco-friendly antifouling paints that reduce a ship’s fuel consumption. The metal-free paints can help protect the marine ecology.

Professor Michael Leung Kwok-hi, Associate Dean of SEE, will introduce the two projects at the media briefing. Media are warmly invited to attend and learn more.
