AC3 named Lau Ming Wai Academic Building

Academic 3 has been named “Lau Ming Wai Academic Building” in appreciation of the support that Mr Lau Ming-wai and his family have contributed to City University of Hong Kong (CityU) over the years.

Mr Lau, our Honorary Fellow and a member of the University Council since 2014, and his family have made a generous donation to set up student exchange and non-local internship awards and bursaries. The donation will also help to sponsor our strategic initiatives.

The donation reflects the family’s recognition of CityU’s achievements and support for our strategic development. Mr Lau is glad to have witnessed the rapid growth of CityU in recent years. He also appreciates the opportunities that CityU has created for enriching the learning experience on campus and developing the international perspectives that students acquire during their studies. More than 1,000 students have benefitted from these initiatives so far and there are more in the years to come.

Lau Ming Wai Academic Building, opened in May 2013, houses a state-of-the-art 600-seat theatre, the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, an alumni function room, restaurants, classrooms and learning commons, multi-function rooms, academic and administration offices.
