The future of electric dipole superconductor

Professor Xie Xincheng of the Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered the latest instalment in the City University Distinguished Lecture Series with a talk titled “Spin Superconductor and Electric Dipole Superconductor” on 27 October at City University of Hong Kong.

Professor Xie demonstrated the London-type and Ginzburg–Landau-type equations for the electric dipole superconductors by viewing the exciton in a bilayer system as an electric dipole. He concluded that the exciton superfluid state formed in bilayer systems pave new ways to drive an electric dipole current.

Professor Xie is the Dean of the School of Physics at Peking University and the Department Director of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
