CityU names table tennis room after table tennis enthusiast

The table tennis room at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) was named the Michael Chan Table Tennis Room on 12 October in appreciation of the generous support from Mr Michael Chan Wing-ming (top photo, 3rd from left), Chairman of Chanson Limited.

Mr Chan, the youngest son of Dr Chan Sui-kau (top photo, 4th from left), a renowned philanthropist and long-term supporter of CityU, inherited his father’s deep concern about education for the younger generation. His donation supports the strategic development plans of the University and its student athletes.

Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun (top photo, 5th from left), Vice-President (Development and External Relations), in his welcoming remarks mentioned that Mr Chan was a table tennis enthusiast and that they had got to know about each other in a friendly match. He also thanked Dr Chan, Mr Chan, and Ms Shirley Chan Suk-ling (top photo, 4th from right), his elder sister, and one of CityU’s Council members, for their staunch support to CityU over the years.

During the naming ceremony, Mr Chan, together with his family and friends, enjoyed a lively chat with members of the CityU Table Tennis Team, making the evening warm and memorable.
