CityU encourages continuing education through Graduate Studies Information Day
CityU’s Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies offers varied graduate studies programmes, ranging from research degree or professional doctorate programmes to more than 60 taught postgraduate programmes. This diversity ensures the continuing education needs of all students are accommodated as they seek to further enrich their academic and career achievements.
The graduate programmes cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, including science, engineering, business, law, social science and humanities. Professor (Chair) Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice President (Research) and Dean of Graduate Studies, said the University constantly adjusted the programme content to ensure the curriculum remained abreast of the latest global trends and standards.
CityU also has a team of local and overseas elite academic staff with excellent academic backgrounds, teaching experience and global vision. The University is frequently visited by top scholars from around the world, who share their knowledge and provide personal tutorials to students.
At the same time, the School has attracted many top professionals to its student ranks over the years. Many have held senior management posts with different businesses and industries, bringing with them insightful knowledge and critical experience to share with fellow students during class. This not only serves to educate the students but also assists in expanding personal and professional networks.
Professor Wong said the School continued to embrace the concept of globalisation. He expected the School to recruit an increasing number of overseas students and further bolster international academic and cultural exchanges.
The theme of this year’s information day was “Knowledge Hub for Professionals”. The Faculty of Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, School of Law and School of Creative Media set up booths to distribute programme information and answer questions from prospective students.
The Faculties and Schools have held a number of seminars to further explain different programmes to visitors. Programme leaders and professors also briefed visitors on the latest trends in their disciplines or professions.
