IEEE President-Elect visits CityU

Dr Peter Staecker (upper row, 2nd from right), President-Elect of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 10 January. He was warmly welcomed by Professor Lu Jian (upper row, 3rd from right), Dean of the College of Science and Engineering (CSE); Professor Yan Hong, (upper row, 1st from left), Associate Dean of CSE; Professor Sam Kwong Tak-wu, (upper row, 3rd from left), Professor in the Department of Computer Science, and Dr Ray Cheung Chak-chung, (upper row, 1st from right), Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering.

The purpose of Dr Staeker’s visit was to promote IEEE activities, exchange ideas and provide an opportunity for CityU staff and students to participate in professional activities. In addition to attending a research seminar on the priorities of IEEE, Dr Staecker visited the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre to learn about the latest development of the School of Creative Media and the creative media industry in Hong Kong from an engineering perspective.
