CityU Xi’an alumni reunion

Around 50 guests enjoyed the “CityU Alumni Reunion@Xi’an” event held by the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in Xi’an on 19 May. The gathering aimed to strengthen connections among alumni.

 

In attendance were Professor Way Kuo, University President; Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President (Development and External Relations); Professor Wang Guiguo, Dean of the School of Law; Ms Kathy Chan Yin-ling, Associate Vice-President (Alumni Relations); alumni living in Xi’an or neighbouring cities and those ex-students of the School of Law who had completed the Advanced Programme for Chinese Senior Judges; and Mr Clovis Lau Koong-yep, Vice-Chairman of the Convocation of CityU. The Convocation was the event partner for this event.

 

Members of the CityU Eminence Society participating in the Xi’an cultural tour organised by the Society also joined the event, including Mr Simon Hui Hing-tak, Chairman of the CityU Eminence Society; Dr John Chan Chun-tung, Honorary Fellow, Distinguished Alumni and Court member; and Mr Andrew Fan Ka-fai, Honorary Fellow, Distinguished Alumni and Council member.

 

CityU’s alumni networks in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are stable and mature. ARO holds activities for mainland alumni regularly, and this event marked the first such activity for alumni in Xi’an to extend their networks.

 

Professor Kuo introduced CityU’s recent developments at the event, including the completion of Academic 2 and 3. Both buildings have helped the University excel in its professional education and problem-driven research. He added that next year would be CityU’s 30th anniversary, and he thanked the alumni for their lasting support.

 

Alumni leaders expressed their care for the University and appealed to their fellow alumni to actively participate in University alumni activities.

 

Around 3,000 CityU alumni currently live on the mainland. The activities that ARO holds enable the efficient exchange of information, help alumni keep in touch with each other, and boost the development of the University.
